For Mateo

By Salty Ships

He traces Octavio Paz
with a native tongue
from the tent of my trembling knees
to a hollow
of
shadows
where stunted linguistics
do nothing to muddle meaning
and we demolish the Tower Of Babel
using sounds that form no words.

"we demolish the Tower Of Babel using sounds that form no words" - love that word picture! Hope the one you are thinking of "every time" doesn't find out...or is that the point? You have an excellent poetic style and I am so happy to have a new piece to read from you! Ciao, T/S Scholar
