Vudu Hands

By Damien

Old bones rattle
spread out on burning sand
broken will, lost battles
ancient blood spilt on Vudu hands

The dead will walk but can not speak
living flesh on which to feast
rotting corpse climbs up from hell
summoned by an unspoken spell
the  air is ripe with a contagious stench
following with no choice of life or death

His face is cloaked by the failures of man
hovering over the blackness is where he stands
a foreboding presence, other worldly demands
from the center of your being he commands
pulling you to nowhere with Vudu hands

A dark hole boils over with fleshless skulls
the sky turns red, raining down on us all
it burns like acid with a plague of leprosy
creates an army of dead for him to lead
devouring the souls of this decadent earth
from darkness and death comes rebirth
a thousand years from now we will still hear his words

For it is written in the timeless sand
with the blood of sinful man
slow, pounding drum echoes on the land
no mortals will walk where he stands
this is how we began
ancient blood spilt on Vudu hands

Great stuff! Both primeval and apocalyptic sounds reverberate through this! Wonderful. 10.

This was powerful. The rhyme, and the way you wrote this was so vivid. I could hear this. I could feel a drumming as the words left my tongue. This reminds me of a story I once heard.
