Requiem for a Dream

By Damien

Looking out over mountains and cliffs I see

of wind and rain, oceans in their entirety

waves of splendor calming me

silently painting this requiem for a dream

The past is just as present

living in the memory you sent

If I could fly

I spread my wings and soar to the sun

facing my own mortality for once

a second breath of wayward air

preserving a thought of less than a care

unbridled passion for things unsaid

a clearer vision resonates to my head

of never a regret, doubt or guess

riding a bluish pillow cloud

hearing my own laughter out loud

a colorful stream transforms a rainbow

of childish innocence and faces I know

that tickle in my stomach's pit

as I look out over mountains and cliffs

it's my own footsteps I seek

and a requiem for a dream

is of life and it's meaning

nearing the end... or one more step

how strangely ironic this thing called death

Really beautiful imagery here. Made me feel like I was in the same place you were describing. Very well worded and written. Great job.
